What cards work with AWID readers and DoorKing DKProx systems?

AWID readers and DoorKing DKProx gate panels read 125 kHz credentials built on AWID’s own air interface, in 26-bit and 37-bit formats — an HID card with the same bit layout will not read on them. American Key Cards supplies these as clamshells, printable ISO cards, key fobs and thin adhesive windshield credentials, programmed to your site code and number block, with no dealer account needed.

About AWID & DoorKing

AWID readers guard an enormous number of American gates, and DoorKing telephone-entry systems with DKProx readers use the same credential protocol. If your community issues gray AWID clamshells or your DoorKing panel enrolls prox cards, this is the product that keeps residents moving without OEM lead times.

AWID is a good example of why we lead with technology instead of bit format: an AWID 26-bit card and an HID 26-bit card carry the same data structure but speak different RF protocols, so one will not read on the other’s reader. We match the protocol first, then program your site code and card range.

Before you order

How to order AWID & DoorKing correctly

  1. DoorKing enrolls, AWID reads

    On DKProx installations the DoorKing panel manages the numbers while the credential itself is AWID-format. We need the site code and the number block your panel was set up with.

  2. Do not order HID for an AWID reader

    Same 26-bit structure, different radio protocol, zero reads. If you are not sure which you have, a photo of the reader settles it.

  3. Thin adhesive credentials for windshields

    For hands-free vehicle lanes, the adhesive prox credential sticks to glass and reads at the same range as a card held out the window.

AWID & DoorKing FAQ

My DoorKing manual mentions "DKProx" — is that this?

Yes. DKProx is DoorKing’s proximity reader line and it reads AWID-protocol credentials. Cards and fobs we supply enroll in the DoorKing programming interface like the originals.

Can you match our existing resident card numbers?

We program new stock into whatever number block you specify, so the office can keep assigning sequential numbers to residents without collisions.

What form factors work at a vehicle gate?

Clamshell cards, standard fobs, and thin adhesive tags mounted on the windshield all read reliably. Range depends on the reader model, and we can advise once we know it.

Do you support AWID 37-bit as well as 26-bit?

Yes — both common AWID formats are supported. The format is confirmed from a working credential or your dealer’s installation record before we encode.
