No — Keri Systems NXT MIFARE (13.56 MHz Smart Card) cannot be cloned from an existing card. It relies on strong cryptography, so a credential can't be copied off an existing card. That's a security strength, not a limitation of our service — and we'll never pretend otherwise.

13.56 MHz MIFARE Classic 4K with custom application sectors — significantly more resistant to cloning than 125 kHz proximity. MIFARE Classic is not cryptographically unbreakable (CRYPTO1 cipher has known weaknesses) but provides far stronger protection than any 125 kHz format. Are Keri MIFARE credentials the same as standard MIFARE cards from other brands?

No — Keri programs a proprietary application to specific MIFARE memory sectors with custom encryption keys. A blank MIFARE Classic 4K card will not work in a Keri smart card reader. You need credentials specifically programmed to Keri's application layout.

How secure are Keri MIFARE credentials compared to the 125 kHz Keri MS format?

Significantly more secure. MIFARE Classic 4K with custom sector keys is not trivially cloneable like 125 kHz proximity cards. For the highest security, Keri's Delta-series readers also support MIFARE DESFire EV2/EV3 with AES-128 encryption.

Can Keri MIFARE fobs be used alongside existing 125 kHz Keri credentials on the same system?

Only if you have multi-technology readers that support both 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz. Keri offers multi-technology reader models for mixed-format deployments during a transition period.
