Industrial credentials
Hitag industrial credentials
Hitag 1, Hitag 2 and Hitag S credentials for OEM equipment, laundry automation, animal ID and industrial installations that standardized on the Hitag air interface. Supplied as cards, tear-off fobs and sealed laundry inserts rated for repeated wash cycles.
The inlay and encoding depend on the installed reader, the surface or environment, and your use case.
What are Hitag cards and laundry tags?
Hitag 1, Hitag 2 and Hitag S are 125 kHz transponder chips used by OEM machine access, commercial laundry automation and industrial installations rather than office doors. American Key Cards supplies them as ISO cards, tear-off key fobs and sealed PPS laundry inserts rated for repeated industrial wash cycles, verifying which chip variant your reader was built for — the variants are not interchangeable — before production.
Overview
About Hitag industrial
The Hitag air interface never chased the office-door market — it went industrial instead. Machine access on OEM equipment, commercial laundry automation, livestock identification and harsh-environment installations standardized on Hitag 1, Hitag 2 and Hitag S because the protocol is robust, the transponders tolerate abuse, and the chips fit sealed form factors that survive being boiled, tumbled and pressure-washed.
We supply the family across ISO cards, tear-off key fobs and sealed PPS laundry inserts — the 20 mm discs that ride inside linen bags and garments through hundreds of wash cycles. Chip variant verification comes first on every order, because Hitag 1, 2, S256 and S2048 are distinct devices and your reader was built for one of them.

Where it fits
Common Hitag industrial applications
Commercial laundry automation
PPS insert discs sewn into linen bags and garments, tracked through industrial wash lines by Hitag readers.
OEM machine access
Operator credentials for equipment manufacturers who embedded Hitag readers for machine login and usage logging.
Industrial sites & harsh environments
Credentials for wash-down areas, cold storage and outdoor readers where standard cards fail early.
Legacy European-spec installations
US facilities running imported equipment whose access system arrived speaking Hitag.
Before you order
How to order Hitag industrial correctly
- Four chips, one family name
Hitag 1 (2 kbit), Hitag 2 (256 bit) and Hitag S in 256/2048-bit variants each behave differently to a reader. The equipment manual or a sample transponder identifies yours definitively.
- Wash-rated means genuinely sealed
Laundry inserts live in 90°C water, chemicals and extraction pressure. The PPS housing is the survival feature — verify temperature and cycle ratings against your process.
- Mounting on machines
For credentials attached to equipment rather than carried, placement near motors and metal affects read reliability — we advise on standoffs and positioning.

Questions we actually get
Hitag industrial FAQ
Is Hitag the same as normal 125 kHz prox?
Same frequency, different protocol — a Hitag reader ignores EM or HID cards and vice versa. That is why equipment built on Hitag needs Hitag-family transponders specifically.
How many wash cycles do the laundry discs survive?
Quality PPS inserts are rated for typically 200+ industrial cycles including thermal disinfection. Send us your wash parameters and we confirm the rating fits before you tag ten thousand items.
Our machine manual mentions Hitag S — will Hitag 2 work?
Assume no. The variants are not interchangeable, and OEM readers are usually locked to one. We verify against the manual or a working transponder rather than gamble on a batch.
Paxton Net2 uses Hitag2 — is this the same product?
Same chip family, different application. Net2 door tokens live on our Paxton page; this page covers industrial, OEM and laundry deployments. Either way the underlying verification is identical.
Need help identifying the technology?
