What kind of cards does Paxton Net2 use?
Paxton Net2 proximity readers read the 125 kHz Hitag2 token family — not generic 26-bit prox, which they ignore. Compatible Hitag2 cards, clamshells, fobs and adhesive discs from American Key Cards enroll through Net2’s standard present-and-name workflow at your own desktop reader, so no token purchase from Paxton is needed. Newer Paxton MIFARE installations use a separate 13.56 MHz credential class.

About Paxton Net2
Paxton’s Net2 platform has crossed the Atlantic into plenty of US schools, clinics and multi-tenant buildings, and its proximity readers speak the 125 kHz Hitag2 token family — not the generic 26-bit prox many US suppliers assume. Ordering "standard prox" for a Net2 site produces a box of cards the readers silently ignore.
We supply Hitag2 credentials that Net2 enrolls exactly like Paxton’s own tokens: present to a desktop reader or door, the software picks up the number, done. Cards, fobs and adhesive discs all draw from the same token family, so you can mix form factors per user.

How to order Paxton Net2 correctly
- Net2 proximity is not generic prox
The Hitag2 air interface is specific. If a supplier does not mention Hitag when discussing Paxton, they are about to sell you the wrong cards.
- Enrollment is self-service
Net2 reads the token number on presentation, so credentials do not need pre-registration with Paxton — you enroll new stock at your own desktop reader.
- Check for Paxton MIFARE sites
Some newer Paxton installations run 13.56 MHz MIFARE readers instead. A photo of the reader face tells us which system you actually have.

Paxton Net2 FAQ
Do I need to buy tokens from Paxton for Net2 to work?
No. Net2 enrolls any credential its readers can read, which for proximity sites means the Hitag2 family. Our tokens enroll through the standard "present and name" workflow.
Can I get printable cards for photo badges?
Yes — the printable ISO Hitag2 card runs through normal dye-sublimation card printers, so one credential opens the door and shows the face.
What is the adhesive disc for?
It is a small self-adhesive Hitag2 token that turns a phone, wallet or existing non-RFID badge into a Net2 credential. Popular with users who lose fobs.
We have Paxton readers but green MIFARE-style cards — help?
That is likely a Paxton MIFARE deployment rather than proximity Net2. Send photos; if it is MIFARE we quote from our 13.56 MHz range instead. Same verification, different product.
