SALTO-compatible credential stock

Blank MIFARE card, fob and wristband stock for organizations that run their own SALTO installation and issue credentials on their own encoder. This is issuance stock, not duplication: an existing SALTO credential carries encrypted access data and cannot be copied.

What are SALTO-compatible credentials?

SALTO-compatible credentials are blank 13.56 MHz MIFARE cards, key fobs and wristbands — MIFARE Classic, DESFire EV2/EV3 or Ultralight C — that a SALTO Space, KS or Homelok operator enrolls and encodes on their own SALTO encoder. American Key Cards supplies the unprogrammed stock matched to the chip family your locks read; existing SALTO credentials carry encrypted access data and cannot be copied by any third party.

Overview

About SALTO stock

SALTO electronic locks read standard 13.56 MHz MIFARE credentials, and the access data on them is written by your own system — at the encoder next to the front desk or at an online wall reader as staff move through the building. That data-on-card design means the expensive part of the system is the locks and software, not the plastic. The plastic is exactly what we supply: blank MIFARE cards, fobs and wristbands your SALTO software enrolls the same way it enrolls stock bought from an installer, without the dealer markup or the dealer wait.

Because SALTO installations vary in which chip family they were commissioned on — MIFARE Classic 1K on older sites, DESFire EV2 or EV3 on newer security-conscious ones, Ultralight C in some hospitality fits — we confirm what your locks actually read before anything ships. Send us the platform (Space, KS or Homelok) and a photo of a working credential or your commissioning notes, and we match the stock to it. Hospitality and leisure sites can order the same stock as RFID wristbands.

Before you order

How to order SALTO stock correctly

  1. Match the chip family, not the brand name

A SALTO site is commissioned on a specific MIFARE family and security level. Stock in the wrong family enrolls badly or not at all — we verify Classic vs DESFire vs Ultralight C from a working credential before production.

  2. You do the encoding, and that is the point

SALTO access rights are written by your encoder under your keys. We never ask for keys and never pre-load access data — which is also why nobody, including us, can duplicate a lost SALTO card.

  3. Think about the body early

Front-desk issuance favors printable ISO cards; housekeeping and leisure favor wristbands; maintenance crews favor fobs. All three can live on the same system, so order the mix, not just the card.

Questions we actually get

SALTO stock FAQ

Will these cards work with my SALTO locks?

If they match the MIFARE family your site was commissioned on, yes — your SALTO software enrolls them like any other credential. That is why we confirm the chip family from a working card or your commissioning notes before shipping.

Can you copy or clone an existing SALTO card?

No, and neither can anyone else operating honestly. SALTO writes encrypted access data under keys only your system holds. Lost cards are cancelled and reissued from your own encoder — with blank stock like this.

Do I need to buy credentials from my SALTO installer?

No. The locks read standard MIFARE chips, and issuance happens in your software. Installer-supplied stock is convenient but not technically required — compatible blank stock enrolls the same way.

Which chip should a new SALTO deployment use?

That decision belongs to your installer at commissioning, but as supplied stock goes: DESFire EV3 is the current security benchmark, Classic 1K remains common on established estates, and Ultralight C appears in cost-sensitive hospitality fits.
