How do RFID wristbands work with access control systems?
An RFID wristband houses the same inlay as an access card — EM or HID Prox-class at 125 kHz, or MIFARE-class at 13.56 MHz — inside a water-safe silicone or disposable band, so existing readers enroll it like any card. American Key Cards selects the inlay after verifying your reader from a sample credential or model number, then confirms sizing, closure and environment before production; orders are quote-based.

About RFID wristbands
Cards drown, fobs sink, and nobody carries a wallet into a pool. Wristbands are the form factor for wet, active and hands-full environments — silicone bands for members who wear them daily, disposable bands for event crowds — and because the inlay inside is selected to match your installed readers, they enroll in your existing system like any card.
The critical spec is invisible: the chip. A wristband is only a housing; we build yours on the 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz inlay your readers actually speak, verified against a sample credential or reader model before production. Closure style, sizing and printing come after the radio works.

How to order RFID wristbands correctly
- The inlay must match the reader
Bands exist for EM, HID-format, MIFARE Classic and DESFire systems alike — but only the matching one enrolls. Reader verification is step one on every wristband order.
- Silicone vs disposable
Silicone suits memberships measured in years; woven or vinyl disposables suit admissions measured in hours. Cost structures differ accordingly.
- Sizing and closure
Fixed-size silicone in S/M/L covers most member bases; adjustable and locking closures suit events where transferability is the concern.

Will wristbands work with our existing card system?
If we can match the inlay to your readers — and we verify this from a sample card or the reader model before production — the system treats a band exactly like a card.
Are the bands really waterproof?
Sealed silicone bands are built for daily immersion — pools, showers, hot tubs. Disposable event bands tolerate rain and sweat; they are not intended for a season of swimming.
Can you print our logo on them?
Yes — silicone bands take printed or debossed branding, and disposable bands print in full color. Numbering and variable data are available where your system needs them.
Can one band do door access and payments?
On MIFARE-based systems, yes — access and closed-loop payment can share a chip if your software supports it. That is a system capability question we help you confirm before ordering.
