Custom-printed access cards
Custom-branded access cards with full-color identity printing, numbering and format-matched credential encoding. Start with the reader format, then choose the printable card body and artwork requirements.
The inlay and encoding depend on the installed reader, the surface or environment, and your use case.
Can access cards be custom printed with a logo?
Yes — printable ISO card bodies across HID Prox, AWID, ioProx, MIFARE and other verified formats take full-color printing on one or both faces, plus sequential numbering, barcodes and photos, with the access encoding done in the same production run. American Key Cards verifies the reader format first, then proofs your artwork on a CR80 template before any card is pressed; no dealer account is required.
Overview
About Custom printing
An access card that is also a photo ID, a branded hotel key that markets the property with every use, an employee badge with the logo straight and the numbers matching HR’s spreadsheet — custom printing turns a functional credential into part of your identity program. We print full color on one or both faces, add sequential numbering, barcodes or QR codes, and encode the access technology in the same production run.
The order of operations is the whole trick: reader format first, artwork second. A beautiful card in the wrong format is a coaster, so every printed order goes through the same format verification as our blank credentials — then artwork is proofed against a template before a single card is pressed.

Before you order
How to order Custom printing correctly
- Format verification precedes printing
Encoding errors are invisible until a thousand printed cards fail at the door. We lock the technology spec first; art approval follows.
- Artwork specs matter
CR80 templates with bleed, 300 dpi minimum, and awareness of where the chip or antenna sits (embossing and heavy ink loads have exclusion zones). We supply the template and check your files.
- Variable data ties printing to access
Sequential numbers, names and barcodes can be matched to encoded card numbers in a manifest, so the printed "1047" is also the credential your software sees as 1047.

Questions we actually get
Custom printing FAQ
Can you print on any card technology you sell?
Printable ISO bodies across our range accept full-color printing — prox, MIFARE, DESFire, magstripe and blank PVC. Clamshells are the exception; their shell cannot be printed, only labeled.
Do I see a proof before production?
Always. A digital proof with your artwork on the exact card template requires your sign-off before printing begins. Physical pre-production samples are available on larger runs.
Can printed numbers match the encoded access numbers?
Yes — that is variable-data production. The manifest we return maps printed number to encoded credential so enrollment is a spreadsheet import, not a card-by-card ceremony.
What artwork files do you need?
Print-ready PDF, AI or high-resolution PNG on our CR80 template with bleed. Not a designer? Send the logo and brand colors and we lay out a clean badge design for approval.
Need help identifying the technology?
Send a photo of the credential and the reader model. We'll identify the format before we quote a compatible product.
